Why do you need the Germany Job Seeker Visa?

German job seeker visa enables job seekers to stay in Germany for up to six months and look for employment opportunities. If you find a job within the time frame, you can apply for a residence permit or a work visa that allows you to live and work there. Please note that the job seeker visa cannot be extended beyond six months. If you cannot find a job within the time frame, there is no choice but to return to your country.

Job aspirants who fulfill certain eligibility criteria can apply for the German job seeker visa.

  • The applicant must be an adult (above 18 years).
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from either a German University or an equivalent foreign University is required. However, as per Germany Skilled Immigration Act, Skilled workers who have vocational training are also eligible to apply. 
  • Minimum five years of work experience in their respective fields is required. Skilled workers require vocational training for at least two years that is recognized by the relevant German body.
  • Enough evidence to support the availability of sufficient funds to cover the expenses during the period of stay in Germany.
  • The applicant must have medical insurance/travel insurance cover during the period of stay in Germany.

How to apply for a German Job Seeker Visa?

Once you are sure to have met the eligibility criteria, the next step would be to collect the necessary documents and submit the application to the German embassy of your country.

Make a checklist of the following documents and make sure not to miss anything to prevent your application from being rejected. 

  • Your passport (Check the validity in terms of time) 
  • Three passport pictures as per the biometric specifications 
  • Detailed curriculum vitae, stating details on education and experience
  • Cover letter stating the purpose of visit, your action plan to find a job, and future career plans
  • Evidence to prove your academic qualification and your work experience
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Evidence to prove financial stability – Bank account statement or blocked bank account or a declaration letter by a sponsor

  • Proof of insurance cover
  • Proof of visa fee payment
