What is the deal with glyphosate?
Impossible Burger from Impossible Foods is made from genetically modified soy, and the heme which makes it bleed like beef comes from soy leghemoglobin which is made from genetically engineered yeast.
The leghemoglobin is approved by the FDA as safe, and there is no proof that genetically modified organisms can cause disease.

In the Impossible Foods unofficial company response to Moms Across America, it says the level of the herbicide detected is about 1000 times lower than the no-significant-risk level for glyphosate ingestion (1100 micrograms daily) set by California Prop 65.
The WHO (World health organization), the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization), and the EPA (the United States Environmental Protection Agency) have also set safe daily limits for glyphosate exposure.
But they are much higher than those of California prop 65. So, the impossible Burger falls even further below the threshold for those agencies.
Is the Impossible Burger healthier than the beef burger?
As far as calories is concerned, the Impossible patty and a regular beef patty are pretty close.
For example, a 4-ounce Impossible Burger patty is 240 calories while a 4-ounce of ground beef ranges from about 250 – 300 calories depending on the fat content.
Impossible Burger patties contain less cholesterol than beef but more sodium and fat (including saturated fat).
These numbers can change depending on the fat content in whatever ground beef or cut of meat you have – just be mindful of those differences if you are watching those specific nutrients.
The Impossible Burger also contains 3g of fiber per serving, while beef contains no fiber.
Because Impossible Burger is made from plants, it contains many vitamins and minerals than a beef burger. But a beef burger contains more protein than the Impossible Burger.
