In the world of Cyber security, Cryptocurrency mining malware has recently become a hot subject so much so that popular internet browser “Opera” has revealed her intention to offer protection against it.
The developers of Opera internet Browser have announced that the next version of their software will have a built-in anti-Bitcoin mining feature simply called Nocoin. This new feature will block any cryptocurrency mining scripts that might abuse your device’s computing power.
To enable the mining protection, users need to go to Settings or Preferences. The NoCoin (Cryptocurrency) setting can be found in Recommended lists of ad filters in the Block ads page.
With NoCoin turned on, pages embedded with cryptocurrency mining scripts will be blocked in a similar way our mechanism blocks ads,” said Opera desktop QA Kornelia Mielczarczyk.
Opera Team member Kornelia Mielczarczyk further added:
Bitcoins are really hot right now, but did you know that they might actually be making your computer hotter? Your CPU suddenly working at 100% capacity, the fan is going crazy for seemingly no reason and your battery quickly depleting might all be signs that someone (other than you) is your computer to mine cryptocurrency without your knowledge.
It is noteworthy that the company has tried to differentiate itself with a range of novel features, such as the ad-blocker and a built-in VPN and this time it is adding a feature to block unauthorized cryptocurrency mining.
